Music Mondays | Chehalem String Quartet

November 2, 2020 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

The Chehalem Quartet, now in its sixteenth season, is well known among Portland area chamber music aficionados. The quartet specializes in concerts in small settings – small concert halls, living rooms, or anywhere that the audience can be close to the music-making. This is the way chamber music started and is still it’s the finest setting. The hope is
that in this time of social distancing, video can bring the musicians and the audience nearly as close.

First violinist Irene Gadeholt performed many seasons as a core member of the Oregon Symphony and has served as assistant concertmaster with such ensembles as The Portland Opera and Oregon Ballet Theatre. She currently serves as associate concertmaster with the Newport Symphony and mentors young musicians through her private teaching studio.

Violinist Lori Porter Stole plays with the Portland Columbia Symphony and Newport Symphony, and also manages a small organic hazelnut orchard.

Violist Cynthia Scott is a full-time musician, music teacher, co-director of the Oregon Suzuki Institute, and principal violist of Portland Columbia Symphony.

Cellist Barbara Johnston is principal cellist of Portland Columbia Symphony and Newport Symphony, having recently retired from her career as an appellate attorney.
